Forum update

Under ConstructionThe SP-Studio forum will be offline for a couple of days. It was time for a big update and unfortunately this did not go smoothly. But it will be a better forum when it’s back!
Right now I am not sure how long it will take, but I will keep you updated in the comments of this post. So if you are a member or even team member of the forum you can stay here while the forum is offline.
Thank you for your patience!

Not yet. 🙁 I get a white screen all the time and try to find the reason for this with the help of the phpBB support forum. To be honest I wasn’t able to continue with searching during the last days because of work (December is always full of work + Christmas Special updates), but I am back on it now.

I cannot see the gallery right now, but I have good news regarding the forum – it’s running with the latest version of the forum software now :).
There is still an error messag I have to fix and then focus on rescuing the gallery.

Update: The forum won’t be back until next week. It’s annoying… But I know I won’t be able to work on this the next few days because of Christmas, family and stuff.

It seems like every suggested fix I try leads to more error messages.
The forum itsellf including all the user profiles, topics and posts works fine, but the gallery (and extensions in general) still won’t work. The problem seems to be the extension system which changed from the old version and the new one. There are guides on how to convert the old gallery system, but they don’t work in my case and I have no idea why. In the support forum they tried to help, but those suggestions did not work as well.
I begin to wonder if I should just go back to the old forum… I don’t want to keep it offline much longer. The other option is to abandon the gallery and to find a new way to implement it. But I don’t want you to loose your user galleries. What’s your opinion about this? Does anybody of you know good gallery solutions which are more reliable?

How about separating the Forum and the Gallery? And having the New forum and Old Gallery? Is That even possible to accomplish? If not, I guess, that for now you should bring back the old community, and perhaps we’ll think of something later?

    Happy new year 🙂
The gallery (phpBB Gallery) is an extention for the forum software (phpBB), so it cannot run without the forum and both versions need to fit. The combination of forum and gallery makes it easier for the users, because they only need one account. But in modern times most websites use a different login method anyway… they offer the option to register with your existing Google or Facebook account. Perhaps that’s something I should go for and then there is no need to use the phpBB gallery anymore. Well, we will see.
I will go back to the old forum if I cannot find a solution within this week.
