Update: Item search

This update is brought to you by Lars (LGK), who coded an exciting new feature for the SP-Studio: You can now SEARCH for items!

The search is an experimental function for now, so you need to activate it in the SETTINGS first. By the way: This new Settings tab also contains the language selection. Once activated you will see the search icon next to the category selection. You can use it to quickly access any items without browsing the categories. The search recognises the names of the items as they are displayed in the item options (I will improve the titles for the hairstyles during the next days).

As a bonus Lars has also improved the keyboard controls to make the SP Studio more accessible. You can press the TAB key to navigate instead of using a mouse.

The final Christmas Special update is there! I hope you enjoyed the advent calendar with all the different surprises.

Big thanks to everybody who supported me during this difficult year and cheered me up with their comments. I am confident there will not be such a long break next year.

Christmas Special 2024

24 presents will be wrapped for you, with daily surprise updates! For the 16th time I will draw new clothes, places, hairstyles and other objects for this SP-Studio advent calendar. Again all of these updates are free to use and most of the new items will be based on requests from the SP-Studio community. Visit the Wish Voting gallery to comment on your favorite update ideas or to suggest your own.

36 new wish voting wishes

36 new wishes have been added to the gallery! Tomorrow the big SP-Studio Christmas special will start, and so it was about time to revive the wish voting gallery.

I had to pause updating it this year, but none of your wishes were lost. I went through all your messages from the last months, picked my favorite ideas and uploaded them to the gallery today. Everybody can visit the WISH VOTING GALLERY to comment on these ideas and discuss them to let me know which which I should draw for the SP-Studio. Some of them will already appear in the Christmas special. And of course you can upload new wishes here.

14 FAMOUS COSTUMES for the “special shirts” category!

This is the first content update after I had to take a long break (as explained here). But this is not the only reason why I named it the “I’m back!” update. To help me get back into it, I’ve chosen some old drawings of mine that date back to the Flash version of the SP-Studio. They have been completely reworked to make them fit the new SP-Studio and to support recoloring. So you can not only dress up as famous characters, but also customize the clothes for your own characters.

The costumes were inspired by Game of Thrones, Guardians of the Galaxy, Disney’s Gummi Bears, Mulan, DuckTales, Halo, Doom, Metal Gear Solid and Metroid.

A quick away message

From tomorrow I will be absent for a few days because I have to go to hospital for my eye surgery. The plan is to be back by the end of the week, but it depends on the healing process. So I’ll just say “see you soon” – hopefully with better vision!

I also want to thank you for your kind reaction to my last blog post. Because the comments are under moderation to prevent spam, anything you write now will not be visible until I am back. But nothing gets lost. Sometimes this causes confusion, so I want to explain it just in case. This surgery is an important step on my way back to working normally again, and I am looking forward to returning to SP-Studio updates.

Health issues

Please take the time to read this personal post, even though the topic is not a happy one. Although I have been organising the picture contests on a monthly base, there has been no new content for the SP-Studio since the big animal update in March. People keep asking if I ‘forgot’ about the updates. Of course it is not like that. I regret every single day that I am not able to work on this project. That’s why I want to explain what is going on.

I am struggling with health problems. The eye issues I wrote about 3 years ago have got worse. The vision in my left eye is now so bad that I can no longer use it at all (even with new glasses). In addition, since last year I have been suffering from unexplained vertigo attacks while working at the computer. These things might be related, but nobody knows for sure yet.

Big animal update

With 40 NEW ITEMS this is the biggest content update since the SP-Studio relaunch!

The new body parts give you more possibilities to build animals in the SP studio. Or monsters! It’s up to you, but I know for sure this wild new freedom will lead to some interesting combinations for your characters. I spent the last months working on this update to make sure these unusual additions fit the base shape of the SP-Studio bodies. It turned out nature is very inspiring, so that’s the reason why I decided to have this huge update instead of several smaller ones. And I am really excited to finally share it with you now! 🙂 I hope you enjoy it as much as I enjoyed drawing it.

Happy Holidays!

The Christmas Special is over and I hope you liked the surprises I created you for. Now I wish you a merry Christmas and a happy new year!

During this year 110 new items have been drawn for the SP-Studio. And the huge amount of new visitors from TikTok was amazing! It was a lot of fun to see all your creative pictures in the monthly contests and elsewhere.

Big thanks to everybody who supported this project in 2023 with donations and kind comments! If you like the SP-Studio please have a look at the funding page. Now I’ll enjoy my vacation and will be back in January. See you then!

Christmas Special 2023

Until December 24th there will be daily surprises for you! Unfortunetaly I had to delay the start because I was sick, but now I feel better and will catch up. As every year I will draw 24 new clothes, places, hairstyles and other objects for the SP-Studio. Of corse all of them are free for you to use.

Again YOU can request new items for these updates! Upload them to the Wish Voting gallery and if I like them they will appear there. The next Wish Voting Gallery update will be around Thursday. Then everybody can discuss the wishes and popular and interesting looking ideas have a good chance to appear in the Christmas Special.
