A quick away message

From tomorrow I will be absent for a few days because I have to go to hospital for my eye surgery. The plan is to be back by the end of the week, but it depends on the healing process. So I’ll just say “see you soon” – hopefully with better vision!

I also want to thank you for your kind reaction to my last blog post. Because the comments are under moderation to prevent spam, anything you write now will not be visible until I am back. But nothing gets lost. Sometimes this causes confusion, so I want to explain it just in case. This surgery is an important step on my way back to working normally again, and I am looking forward to returning to SP-Studio updates.

Health issues

Please take the time to read this personal post, even though the topic is not a happy one. Although I have been organising the picture contests on a monthly base, there has been no new content for the SP-Studio since the big animal update in March. People keep asking if I ‘forgot’ about the updates. Of course it is not like that. I regret every single day that I am not able to work on this project. That’s why I want to explain what is going on.

I am struggling with health problems. The eye issues I wrote about 3 years ago have got worse. The vision in my left eye is now so bad that I can no longer use it at all (even with new glasses). In addition, since last year I have been suffering from unexplained vertigo attacks while working at the computer. These things might be related, but nobody knows for sure yet.

Big animal update

With 40 NEW ITEMS this is the biggest content update since the SP-Studio relaunch!

The new body parts give you more possibilities to build animals in the SP studio. Or monsters! It’s up to you, but I know for sure this wild new freedom will lead to some interesting combinations for your characters. I spent the last months working on this update to make sure these unusual additions fit the base shape of the SP-Studio bodies. It turned out nature is very inspiring, so that’s the reason why I decided to have this huge update instead of several smaller ones. And I am really excited to finally share it with you now! 🙂 I hope you enjoy it as much as I enjoyed drawing it.

Happy Holidays!

The Christmas Special is over and I hope you liked the surprises I created you for. Now I wish you a merry Christmas and a happy new year!

During this year 110 new items have been drawn for the SP-Studio. And the huge amount of new visitors from TikTok was amazing! It was a lot of fun to see all your creative pictures in the monthly contests and elsewhere.

Big thanks to everybody who supported this project in 2023 with donations and kind comments! If you like the SP-Studio please have a look at the funding page. Now I’ll enjoy my vacation and will be back in January. See you then!

Christmas Special 2023

Until December 24th there will be daily surprises for you! Unfortunetaly I had to delay the start because I was sick, but now I feel better and will catch up. As every year I will draw 24 new clothes, places, hairstyles and other objects for the SP-Studio. Of corse all of them are free for you to use.

Again YOU can request new items for these updates! Upload them to the Wish Voting gallery and if I like them they will appear there. The next Wish Voting Gallery update will be around Thursday. Then everybody can discuss the wishes and popular and interesting looking ideas have a good chance to appear in the Christmas Special.

Sorry, I’m sick

The annual SP-Studio.de Christmas Special will start a bit later this year.

This hurts a lot, but for the first time it’s not possible for me to start this annual tradition in time. I ended up getting infected with COVID-19 after all, and it hit me hard. Currently I cannot sit in front of my computer long enough to work on the daily Christmas updates. I am very sorry for everybody who is waiting for this. I’ve already had other health issues last month, which is why there was no update in November. But I will be back soon!

My plan is to hopefully recover until Monday and then start the Christmas Special with small updates. Then I will catch up. You will get your 24 surprises! The start will only be delayed.

You can now follow @sp-studio.de on Bluesky!

CLICK HERE to visit the official SP-Studio account. After Elon Musk bought Twitter the platform became more and more broken and filled with hate. That’s why I decided to abandon it and move on. Many users are currently switching to the new social network Bluesky, so I want to support this movement and give it a chance. From now on I will share update and other news on Bluesky (in addition to Instagram, Facebook, Jareen’s Discord server and Patreon).

If you use Bluesky it would be great if you’d help the SP-Studio by sharing a post or two.
The challenge now is to regain followers, because starting fresh is never easy. See you there!

Update: One Piece

Today’s update is all about One Piece costumes!

Because I enjoyed the new Netflix show pretty much I wanted to draw the main characters for the SP-Studio. What I like about these costumes is that you can use the new items for different characters as well. So this update is not only for One Piece fans.

Luffy: Shirt, hair, pants, hat, grin, scar

Update: Hair extensions

Today I am proud to present you a particularly big update: 32 new hair extensions!

This took me a while to finish, but it will give you way more freedom with the hair styling of your characters. Visit the “Extra highlights” section of the hair category and create unique hairstyles by combining the new items with basic hair of your choice. I have drawn ponytails, pigtails, bangs / fringes, buns, braids and other hair pieces. Most of them come with the option to select two different colors and you can also switch between a flat view and shadings. As always you can flip, rotate and move them. And don’t forget to use the “lock” button to be able use more than one item from the same category.
I hope you enjoy this big update and creating your own crazy hairstyles!

New wish voting wishes & plans

The WISH VOTING GALLERY was updated today with 60 new ideas by SP-Studio fans. Thank you for your patience! You can now comment on these ideas to show me which you want to see in future updates. The like button was removed from the gallery because it did not work well. New uploads always had less likes than the older ones and so it wasn’t a good way to measure your interest. The comments are a better way to discuss future updates.

After a busy summer I have finally more time for the SP-Studio and I am currently working on an update for the hair category. It seems like you liked the multicolor hairstyles a lot. You can expect more! 🙂 In the meantime the monthly picture contests continue. And I see many new faces there, which is great! JOIN the contest about the 19th century until August 20th.
