The WELLNESS UPDATE brings four new items to the SP-Studio!

I almost didn’t manage to draw anything for SP-Studio.de in January because I had so much work to do. But I didn’t want to break my streak of monthly updates. So I am glad I actually managed to finish this one last minute.

The new background comes with customizable bathroom tiles. You can select your own colors or deactivate the shading if you prefer a plain look. There’s also a towel turban, cucumber slices and new makeup – all in custom colors. The makeup covers the whole face and can be used for carnival or as a facial mask for your character’s skincare routine.

The final Christmas update was uploaded today, and I hope everybody found something to enjoy! Which of the 24 surprises was your favorite?

Now I am off to my winter vacation. Even though I had some difficult times with my mental health I am very happy that I managed to get back to monthly updates in the second half of this year. It was a struggle, but all the more rewarding. Many thanks to everyone who encouraged me and brightened my days with their comments and support! I have many more ideas for SP-Studio updates in 2026 and am looking forward to drawing them.

I wish all of you happy holidays and a great start to the new year!

Christmas Special 2025

Prepare for 24 days full of SP-Studio surprise updates! The 17th annual Christmas Special has started and the advent calendar is full of new clothes, hairstyles and other items for your characters. Most of them will be based on requests from the SP-Studio community. Visit the Wish Voting gallery to discuss your favorite update ideas or to upload your own. As usual, all SP-Studio updates are available completely free of charge. But a nice comment in return always cheers me up. 🙂 Have fun!

Custom color options for 20 indoor backgrounds were added today!

This is the second part of a big update for the background sceneries. It started with the outdoor places in September and now it’s time to recolor the floors, walls and furniture of the indoor places. I hope you enjoy this new creative freedom! There are also some eastereggs hidden beyond the corners of some of these rooms… maybe they are bigger than they look like?

It’s nearly December now, and we all know what this means: The annual SP-Studio Christmas Special starts this Monday! The wish voting gallery will be updated before it, and like every year I will pick 24 of your wishes for new items and draw them.

Update: Horror clowns

HAPPY HALLOWEEN! Do you like creepy clowns?

I asked my Patreon supporters which horror film villain they want to see in this update. One of the selected characters was Pennywise, and so I went for a horror clown theme with three iconic costumes. There are 15 new items, which will be useful for all kind of clowns and monsters:

Pennywise (Stephen King’s It, 1990): Hair, mouth, eyebrows
Pennywise (It, 2017): Hair, makeup, shirt, mouth, nose
Art (Terrifier, 2016): Hat, makeup, shirt, pants, mouth, nose, eyebrows

Update: Customizable places

Custom color options for 24 outdoor backgrounds were added today!

Until now, you had no control over the colors of outdoor places, but that changes with this update. I added custom color options for 24 of them, which is something I planned to do for a long time. It brings many advantages. For example you can remove snow from snowy landscapes, change the sky from daytime to nighttime or make the colors of buildings match your personal taste. Give it a try, and I am sure you will find many ways to use this new creative freedom.

You can expect a similar update for the indoor backgrounds in November – and a Halloween related update in between.

Update: KPop (and other colorful) hair

How about some elaborate new hairstyles and more hair dye experiments?

Usually I would not care much if a new film is the most successful Netflix film of all time… but in this case I really liked the hairstyles of the main characters. Hair like this was missing from the SP-Studio until now, so they inspired this update. It will be useful for Kpop fans and haters alike, because there can never be enough hairstyle options.

3 new hairstyles inspired by the “Kpop Demon Hunters” Rumi, Zoey and Mira
7 existing hairstyles were replaced by updated multicolor versions
2 new hair extensions (which work great in combination with masks and hats)

Server move and possible downtime

Later today SP-Studio.de will move to a new web hosting provider. Therefore, there may be loading errors (that may also affect the blog and forum), but the plan is to keep the downtime as short as possible. The picture contest is not affected.

After many years with my previous web host, technical changes there have unfortunately made this move necessary. However, nothing will change for you as this only affects processes in the background.

If the forum and blog will be down during the server migration I will keep you up to date via BlueSky, Facebook, Instagram and Jareen’s Discord fan server.

Update: Pollution

Six dirty items have been added to the SP-Studio!

This update was inspired by a poll for my 5$+ Patreon supporters. They chose a topic that affects us all: environmental pollution. These new items will be useful for everyday images as well as for post-apocalyptic scenarios.

An industry / factory background
New objects: trash bag, trash bin and toxic waste barrel
Radiation symbol as a “shirt motif” (but it can be moved freely)
…and of course: flies
