Yeah Bob Dylan was part of the "folk" genre before he converted to electric guitars and stuff.
If you look at some of his older songs, it's just his voice and the acoustic guitar!
Back in the 90's, there were ska bands like was Sublime, Reel Big Fish, NoFX(part ska and part punk), Goldfinger, The Mighty Bosstones, etc.

Some of those are still around today. And there are plenty of newer ska-punk bands like Capdown, Leftover Crack and Sonic Boom Six who are doing pretty well at the moment too. Even The Specials are still touring; people love ska. It's good-time dancey music, that sort of thing never goes out of style.

You should also listen to KT Tunstall's first album from 2004, she has a lot of folk influence in her singing and guitar playing. I consider her new EP "The Scarlet Tulip EP" to be absolutely classed as Folk music, and probably my favourite of the genre at that. Seriously, check some of it out: My personal favourite song of the EP.

Meh, not much of a fan of Phil Collins Post-Genesis. I do love his more Motown-influenced work no matter how embarrassingly white it is though.

Excluding local bands, I saw KT Tunstall doing a solo gig 2 months ago. Very good.
The biggest concert ever was "die Ärzte" (=the doctors), a german band.
If that counts, I was recently in National Opera with my Grandpa, on the "Marriage of Figaro"......
