How SP-Studio inspired me

  • Here are the latest improvements:

Indeed I already added the collar and shoulder patch. With some elements that look good from the front I still have to eperiment a bit to make them work in the side view, too. And somehow I think Damian still bends forward a bit too much.

  • I had the theory that the slight imbalance in Damian's posture could be caused by the still relatively tall head. So I did what I often do and cut Damian into pieces and reassambled the parts in different scales. In my mind he looks much better now. Of course, I would have to adjust the front view, too.

It looks like I'm deviating more and more from a comic style to get more realistic. Which is only fitting as my story ideas are developing from a parody of Star Trek to a serious science fiction universe.

  • At the moment I try to draw my characters from different perspectives.

But I still find it difficult to get a consistent look. In my view the characters don't always look like the same person from different angles. How do you cope with that? A solution might be to use photos of celebrities from different angles. But I don't want my characters to look too much like certain real people.

  • Your faces get more and more personailty, I like that very much! And I think you did a good job on the sideviews. Perhaps you can experiment a bit more with the chin and jawline because in the sideview they looks a bit thinner to me. Apart from this small detail I think they look very similar.

But don't forget that many people actually look diffferent from different angles, so don't be too hard on yourself. ;)
