Some were wondering what exactly is meant by a "monochrome" picture. So here are two examples. Pick a color and try to only use variations of this color. Black and white are always fine for small parts because it is difficult to avoid them. A completely different color is only allowed for tiny parts (in this example the belt). And remember to pick a fitting background! Unfortunately, many pictures are uploaded without a background.
tracys4_lifer Everybody can joinJust upload your picture on the contest page.
Does black and white, or grey scale count?

Thanks to all who voted!
I have to say, I thought Benaan's entry was quite creative.
-
Just curious, but why do all the entries not have names attached?
-
Did you enter the Disney contest?

But we have these rules and as you wrote you're watching them being observed. I'm addressing the constant complaints that the wrong people keep winning,
Janina herself brought up one of the entries possibly not being deserving of the number of votes it got, so I responded. And it isn't so much that the "wrong" people are winning, it's that those same people are winning by unusually large margins. Maybe it really is as simple as people voting for entries they recognise. But I can't explain why those same entries are worth twenty more votes than some of the other, arguably better, entries.
Whatever, I've said my peace on it. But I'll just add, it's not impossible to make creative entries without editing. It just requires some creativity...

And concerning the quality of the entries... You really need a lot of experience to get creative pictures without editing anything with additional software. It's not that easy to move several objects consistently, for example, to position a character off-centre. If we applied strict standards, maybe three or four entries would qualify at all. That would quickly end the contest completely.
So, wait, are you saying some of these entries have been edited? Isn't that explicitly against contest rules?
-
Is there not a way to set up these contests so that only forum members can vote? Because anonymous voters shouldn't be allowed a vote. I understand you're trying to encourage more people to join the site, but still...I don't know how the winner got almost 20 votes more than the 5th place entry, and that one was the best of the lot.

It's working fine for me. You can't scroll through the colors at all?

I'd love a Musical and Opera Contest. Of course including Disney Musicals. But it would be nice to see Gilbert and Sullivan, Andrew Lloyd Weber, Mozart, Puccini, Rossini, Verdi, Wagner and others!
Well, there was a "Theatre" contest a few years ago...
I once suggested a "Meme" contest, which would work as at least because are so many.

If you have easy ideas for the next contest topics feel free to share them. Maybe I should recycle the old "Disney" contest? Because everybody should understand this one and be able to come up with a character they like.
I think the problem with such a topic would be there would undoubtedly be similar entries where people do the same character, which can get a bit boring.

Thanks for the kind words, Spooky! Very much appreciated! I hope my previous post didn't come off as sour grapes, it's just there's always at least one or two entries per contest that end up bending the rules, or don't really fit the theme.
Not that I felt my entry deserved a spot, as I know it was one of my weaker ones. Still, I always try to put effort into mine, and even if they look simple, they likely still have a ton of assets used in some way.

I hate to be that guy, but does the 5th entry count? I kind of thought we were supposed to be doing actual actors/actresses?
-
My submission is supposed to be Mathilda from "Leon: The Professional". Not sure what happened there, although I thought I just called it the Professional.
-
So who won this?
-
Congrats, Jareen!
-
Who won the contest?
-
I have an idea for the Exorcist, but I don't know if that counts?

The emojis in the text tool are actually a really powerfull new way to add elements to your picture. It will be fun to see what's possible with them.
How do I find them? I open the text menu, but it's just fonts, no emojis to be found.

Sorry, didn't mean to start anything. I didn't know about the emojis.
