This sounds like a good idea. You can create a topic for it in "Unedited SP-Studio pictures". I don't think we need a subforum for it, one topic should be enough. Somebody asks for help - others reply with suggestions. And then the next one can ask for help with his character.

So feel free to open the topic yourself :).
I can mark it as "sticky" then.

This is because of the updates I am working on (I mentioned this here). I am sorry for the problems, but in a couple of days things will be back to normal :).

If you are curious: I think the reason for the current login problem is the URL. The SP-Studio main page, the forum, the gallery and everything else is located on my server "planearium.de". The domain sp-studio.de leads to this server, but usually you do not notice this, because only the domain http://www.sp-studio.de is shown in your browser. But when I installed the forum & gallery I did not use the correct links in the main menu, that's why "http://www.planearium.de/sp-studio/forum/" was shown in the browser instead of "http://www.sp-studio.de/forum/". I correct this now, but I am not finished yet. The cookies which save your login data might be irritated. So when you cannot log in check the URL in your browser. It should work fine if you always use the old one (http://www.planearium.de/sp-studio/forum/), so maybe you should bookmark it until I am finished with the website updates.

Here comes a new task: copy the greatest artists in history! :artist:
Use the SP-Studio to recreate a famous piece of art. It doesn't matter which era it is from or which technique was used by the artist. But your picture must be based on one particular, existing artwork, because this is the challenge this time. "Famous" does not mean everybody needs to now the original artwork - just proof to us you did not make it up. Please include a link to the original picture.

Examples: Mona Lisa (Leonardo da Vinci), The Scream (Edvard Munch), The Starry Night (Vincent Van Gogh), The Night Watch (Rembrandt van Rijn), Girl with a Pearl Earring (Johannes Vermeer), The Kiss (Gustav Klimt), Guernica (Pablo Picasso), The Great Wave off Kanagawa (Katsushika Hokusai), Composition II in Red, Blue, and Yellow (Piet Mondrian), Marilyn Monroe (Andy Warhol),... are just some really good modern fan art.

    HOW TO JOIN:

If you are new: Register a nickname by clicking on the REGISTER button in the menu on top of this page.
Then you can upload your picture to the contest gallery.
The pictures will all show up on March 16, before this they are hidden. Then everybody can vote.

    • If you upload more than one picture for a contest the newest counts and the others are deleted.
    • When the voting starts registered users can rate the pictures (1-5 stars) until March 31.
    • Vote fair! Do not manipulate results by telling friends to give you 5 stars and others 1 star. I will ban you for this.

    PRIZES:

1st place: Make a wish for a new SP-Studio item and I will draw and include it.
1st to 5th place: You win your own User Gallery. If you already have one you can upload 30 more files to it now.
Janina's Choice: I might pick one additional person, if I think he/she deserves a user gallery. The score doesn't matter.

    Good luck!

I am testing some things now. When I change the look of the main page I want to change my blog software as well (from Serendipity to WordPress).

The news page will not be available for several days because of this, and images might disappear in the main menu. Just in case you wonder what's going on ;).

    UPDATE!

    http://www.sp-studio.de

Whily working on a small update inspired by some videogame characters I noticed there are many of them with interesting objects I would like to include. So during the next couple of weeks there will be multiple updates related to this topic. I know I have done this before... I guess I just like videogame so much ;).

The first one was inspired by Sony's announcement of the PS4 last night. I drew some parts from famous PlayStation characters of the past and tried to pick items which can be useful for multiple reasons and not only for building a copy of ths particular character.

    • Solid Snake's shirt, bandana and hair-style, inspired by the Metal Gear Solid games
    • Crash Bandicoot's smile and "beard"
    • Sephiroth's hair-style and shirt from Final Fantasy VII (those were old drawings, so maybe you already know them)
    • The dress and hat of the main characters from Journey

I think it's better to go in time when you do not have the health anymore to do a proper job. No matter what job it is. Though I never liked Benedict this is a good move. Remember John Paul II's last weeks? He was not able to work anymore, so why did he stay? A dying man should have peace instead of duties. You cannot say he actually was "fullfilling his duties", because he just kept the title and others did his job when he was to ill too continue. No country or company would want a leader like that.

But well... I don't really care about the whole stuff because I am no friend of the church. Another pope will come and nothing will change.

    Quote from Strider

It should be as ridiculous as the latest edition of 'Huckelberry Finn' where they have changed the word 'nigger'... Who is everyone of this new inquisitors to change even a letter of what Mark Twain wrote? :nono:
Political correctness is another cancer of the modern society.

That's an interesting topic. Right now we have a similar discussion in Germany because a famous children's book (The Little Witch) was changed in its new edition. The word "Neger" (ss far as I remember it is only used once in the book) is replaced, because they don't want to teach small kids this word. Back when the book was written it was common to use for black people and not treated as an insult, but times have changed.

But I understand those changes. I read a lot of special editions from classic novels as a kid which were changed for children. The reason for this was not censorship, but to make it easier to understand the old fashioned language. I think editions like this are a good way to give children a better access to classic literature. Our language changes and so it can be really difficult to understand those old books without background knowledge.

The problem is: If you change those books there should always be the original version for adults. We are educated enough to understand the context of those words, because we know those books were written in different times. So there should be no censorship if an adult wants to read the original version. Literature is art and should be treated this way. And how should we learn for the future if we block out the past? That's why I think it is okay to change old books for children as long as the original version is available too.

Sorry for the Off Topic ;). But it's still about "the N-Word". Django is a movie for adults so this kind of language should be no problem because we know about the historcial background.
