Contest 03/2025: Famous Artworks

From Da Vinci to Picasso, from van Gogh to Warhol… art history is full of iconic paintings. Pick one artwork and try to recreate it in the SP-Studio! You are allowed to choose a painting, sculpture or even performance art. It can be really old or contemporary, but it must be a known piece of art! No hobby artists and no commercial designers. You are not allowed to just pick a random manga or comic character. Only unique artworks that stand on their own are permitted as inspiration for this contest. For example the famous Superman image by Andy Warhol would count if you try to recreate this pose.

Examples: Mona Lisa (Leonardo Da Vinci), The Son of Man (Rene Magritte), Starry Night (Vincent Van Gogh), The Scream (Edvard Munch), The Girl with a Pearl Earring (Johannes Vermeer), The Creation of Adam (Michelangelo Buonarroti), The kiss (Gustave Klimt), The Two Fridas (Frida Kahlo), Marilyn (Andy Warhol), Composition C (Piet Mondrian), Wanderer above the Sea of Fog (Caspar David Friedrich), Drowning Girl (Roy Lichtenstein), Hand with Reflecting Sphere (M. C. Escher), sculptures by H. R. Giger, performance art by Joseph Beuys…

Tip: There already are three versions of American Gothic, so you might want to avoid this.

Please remember: You are only allowed to use the SP-Studio, so do not edit with additional software (no cutting, drawing or filters). Don’t resize your picture. Of course it must be your own creation.

Rules for uploads: When you upload your picture, please add a TITLE (the piece of art & artists) and your NAME! Use the same name for all your uploads. Names like anonymous, idk or me are not allowed. Too many use them.

Jury members are not allowed to talk about what their pictures are before the voting phase is over.

The rules are as always:

1. CREATE a SP-Studio picture about the topic of the month
   
2. UPLOAD your unedited picture until the 20th
   
3. VOTING will start on the 21st (jury votes count x2,5)
   
4. THE WINNERS will be announced at the start of next month

You can now like your favorites. I can already tell a Top5 will not be enough to showcase every picture which deserves a top spot. So many of you have outdone yourselves this time! 👍

STATS:

This time there are 30 pictures in this contest. From 49 uploads 19 were disqualified:

9 were no SP-Studio pictures

0 were double entries by the same person

10 were disqualified for different reasons - mostly for not matching the topic

The most popular artworks are Girl with a Pearl Earring (Johannes Vermeer) and Starry Night (Vincent van Gogh). Both were picked 4 times.

This was extremely close, with many stunning pictures and only 0.5 points between Alexander and -. I am a little bit sad to only add the top5 to the Hall of Fame, because I really liked the whole gallery.
