Image Description

" Nord-Pas-de-Calais, 9th April 1917: I became a sniper in the 10th Canadian Brigade. With one eye lost I sharpened the skills of the other. But I never could kill a human being. So I used my sublime skill to just disarm the enemies."

"10th April 1917: The German forces were evacuated off the ridge with German artillery batteries moved west of the Vimy–Bailleul railway embankment or to the Oppy–Méricourt line. I had disarmed 113 German soldiers within two days."

"12th April 1917: The 10th Canadian Brigade, assisted by snow and a westerly wind, fought hastily entrained German troops to capture the entire Pimple by 6:00 pm. The battle was the first occasion when all four divisions of the Canadian Expeditionary Force participated in a battle together and it was made a symbol of Canadian national achievement and sacrifice. I had disarmed 246 German enemies at the end of World War 1."
