- New beards were added and old ones look better now. In total there are 77 different parts for beards now.
- The structure has become more intuitive while giving you more freedom to be creative. There are mustaches and chin beards now (and some special items located beneath those), which can be combined to full beards. This means 1188 possible combinations to create the unique beard you always wanted! Not even counting the special beard items.
- Shadows and highlights are available for many beards now and can be switched on and off when you add them to your picture.
A new button was included which allows you to switch the highlights and shadows on and off for every hairstyle! This means the old hairstyles are available in new variations, so make sure to revisit them to have a look. The “shadows” button can be found in the upper right corner when you select the color.
I am sorry for the lack of updates during the past couple of months. This update might not seem like a big deal, but I had to put a lot of time into it to make it work. The coding in the background took a while and I had to change 214 files with different drawings. In combination with a lot of “real life work” I hope this explains my absence.
The reason for this update was my own disappointment with my old drawings. My drawing style changed over the years and I prefer shadows and highlights now to make the hair look a little bit more realistic. I wanted to bring a more consistent look to the hairstyle category but I know some of my visitors love the classic flat South Park look. So how could I make everyone happy? That’s why I decided to offer the option to choose between those two styles. And removing the highlights might be helpful for those artists as well who like to use the items in different and creative ways.
“Star Wars: The Force Awakens” was a surprisingly good sequel to one of the most popular movie frachises. And it did a great job in introducing new characters even the hardcore fans liked. So I included costumes inspired by three of them to www.sp-studio.de. Unfortunately it was too difficult to draw BB-8 in SP-Studio style, so I focused on Finn, Rey and Kylo Ren.
The new items are:
- 3 shirts
- 2 hairstyles
- 1 mask
The new year starts with an extra big update! I drew 22 new items based on the famous Disney heroines Ariel, Cinderella, Pocahontas, Mulan and Belle. A Snow White costume was already added in 2014, and I wanted to continue this “Disney princess” series because they are fun to draw and very popular. But I have to admit I am no fan of the stereotypical princess marketing. I like the original movies, so I focused on their typical outfits and not on princess gowns. In addition to the costumes you can use new facial expressions now, which will be useful for all kinds of characters. This is new:
- 4 hairstyles
- 3 clothes
- 5 lips
- 5 eyebrows
- 5 types of eyelashes (category: stuff/makeup)
Back to the roots. As you might have guessed already I use the name “SP-Studio” because I draw in the art style of the tv show South Park. In the beginning I copied original clothes and hairstyles from South Park, but I soon prefered more original content. It is kind of boring to just copy something and it feels better to be creative. That is why I did not draw South Park related updates in quite some time. Until now…
Because many fans requested South Park related items I decided to do two big updates to celebrate the show. This is the first one with 16 new hairstyles. That’s a lot of hair! They are based on South Park characters like Craig, Kevin, Nichole, Mr. Mackey, Terrance, Kip Drordy and Scott Malkinson. I chose hairstyles which look useful and are not too similar to existing ones, so I hope you like this collection. The second South Park update will be about costumes and you can make suggestions in the comments. Stick of Truth will be part of this for sure.
The big SP-Studio Christmas Special has started! This means updates every day until Christmas, and like every SP-Studio update I give you all of this for free. Those new clothes, body parts, backgrounds and accessories will be based on the wishes of my visitors. Write your requests in the comments and maybe they will be included. The first new item is a baking sheet full of Christmas cookies. I will update this post with the Advent Calendar every day, so keep an eye on it. The old Christmas Specials: 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013.
I want to dedicate a whole month of SP-Studio updates to animals, so let’s start with a very popular species: The pony! I included 11 new items inspired by the cartoon My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic, developed by Lauren Faust.
- Hooves as hands, a pony nose, a unicorn horn, wings and pony ears.
- 2 tails and 4 hairstyles inspired by main characters of the show.
And as a special bonus: A wallpaper!
I hope this little tribute is a nice addition for all bronies out there and will be useful for other types of animal characters as well. I designed the hair so you can even use it for human characters. You might wonder why there are no unique details like the cutie marks or colorful highlights in the hair. This is because I did not want to just copy one existing pony but rather find interesting parts for creative use. Special thanks to Twilight Sparkle, Fluttershy, Rarity and Pinkie Pie who posed as models :).
Your SP-Studio character wants to feel like a classic Disney Princess? No problem!
Today I included the costume of Snow White, inspired by Walt Disney’s famous animated movie “Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs” from the year 1937. I am sure the new items will be useful for many characters, because you can use most of them in different colors:
- a new dress
- a bow
- a classic short hairstyle
- smiling lips
Here are some new haircuts for your characters:
- A nicely braided updo
- Wild, curly hair inspired by Merida from Disney’s Brave
- Single pieces of hair insipired by Gollum from The Lord of the Rings
- A short haircut inspired by Matthew Bellamy from Muse
The last hairstyle was a wish by contest winner Jareen2. Speaking of contests: Don’t forget to upload your album cover until June 20th! This month our contest is about recreating a famous piece of album art by only using the SP-Studio.
A new update is online, inspired by BBC’s DOCTOR WHO!
After drawing Sherlock I wanted to do something related to another popular British tv show. Many fans asked me for a Doctor Who costume, but it was difficult to pick a doctor. Everybody seems to have another favorite. So I decided to do all the three “new” doctors in one update. Three hairstyles and two suits were added and I hope everybody is happy with this :).
- 9th Doctor (Christopher Eccleston)
- 10th Doctor (David Tennant)
- 11th Doctor (Matt Smith)
What’s the best thing that happened this year so far?
New episodes of BBC’s SHERLOCK!
I felt like Benedict Cumberbatch as Sherlock Holmes was a good inspiration for a SP-Studio update. Not only because he is very popular, but also because you can use those items to build other characters as well. So I hope you like the five new parts, even if you are no fan of the show.
- dark coat
- scarf (custom colors)
- eyebrows (custom colors)
- short, wavy hairstyle (custom colors)
It has started: Let’s celebrate the sixth annual SP-Studio.de Christmas Special! 24 days with 24 updates are waiting for you and I hope you like them. Write me about what you want to see and maybe your wish will come true. I will update this post with the Advent Calendar every day, so keep an eye on it. Here you can visit the old Christmas Specials: 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012.
This is the final video game costume for a while. You voted for Dante from Devil May Cry, and so I included his hair-style and clothes. I picked this version because it seems to be the best known und unique one. Sorry if you prefer the new Dante, but I had to choose one ;).
So what’s next?
I am working on a mixed update with all kind of stuff, so feel free to make suggestions. Ideas which are useful for many of my visitors are welcome. Trendy hair-styles and clothes, items for popular sports and other hobbys, background images you miss a lot… but no too special things and costumes this time. I will use the Wish Voting Gallery for inspiration as well. You can vote and comment on ideas there.
You voted for her, so here is her costume: Princess Peach, well known from Nintendo’s Super Mario games.
I included her long hair and the pink dress.
Unfortunatley there is one little problem with this costume… long hair-styles always cover the puffed sleeves. This is something I cannot change easily, because the SP-Studio items are layered in a strict order. But I will try to find a solution someday.
The next and final videogame related update will be Dante from the “Devil May Cry” games. You voted for it, so I will draw this costume for you :).
It has been a while, but as promised here is another video game related
Because I like the look of the main character in the PS3 game “Buzz! Quiz World” I included his hair-style and glasses in the SP-Studio. I hope they are a useful addition, not only for Buzz, but also for your own characters. And di you notice he ist Canadian?
The next update will come sooner (that’s why this one is so small). I am as sick of those huge breaks between them as you are ;).
Inspired by Sony’s announcement of the PS4 I drew some parts from famous PlayStation characters of the past. I tried to pick items which can be useful for multiple reasons and not only for building a copy of ths particular character:
- Solid Snake’s shirt, bandana and hair-style, inspired by the Metal Gear Solid games
- Crash Bandicoot’s smile and “beard”
- Sephiroth’s hair-style and shirt from Final Fantasy VII
- The dress and hat of the main characters from Journey
Missing your favorite game? I have planned more gaming related SP-Studio updates for the near future.
This is the fifth annual Christmas Special! From December 1 until December 24 a new SP-Studio object will be revealed every day. Hair-styles, bodyparts, clothes, toys, background pictures… 24 surprises! So keep an eye on the Advent Calendar to be up to date:
The first item is a teapot, let’s see what the next days will bring. You can comment here to make suggestions and of course I am always happy about feedback. I hope you enjoy my updates and have a great time with this Advent Calendar!
Welcome to the SP-Studio Halloween Update!
I felt like drawing some creepy new items for this holiday. Like many other videogamers out there I am waiting for the final episode of Telltale’s amazing “The walking Dead” game right now, so this update is focused on zombies:
- A bat
- rotten teeth
- Ripped out eye
- Messy short hair
- Tattered shirt
- …aaand candy!
New items for every category! To celebrate the 10th anniversary of this website I prepared an extra huge SP-Studio update. 22 new clothes, hair-styles, fashion accessories and body parts are waiting for you. And because it is the release date of Diablo 3 today some objects are inspired by the Lord of Terror himself. I hope you enjoy the update! :)
And please remember: If you want to support the SP-Studio and help it stay alive for another decade every little donation is welcome. Thanks a lot to everybody who already helped me to keep this project going!
24 new items can be found in the SP-Studio now. And I changed the freestyle collection shirts, so you can choose between more colors. But let’s see which new objects were included, because those wishes got high ratings by the SP-Studio visitors:

- Four craft items (wish by nutria)
- Taco (wish by iloveall321)

I hope you enjoyed the “wish voting weeks”! Thanks to everyone who suggested new items in the SP-Studio Community and voted for them! And don’t be sad if your wish wasn’t included this time, there will be other updates in the future. I think about “video game weeks” in the fall with some gaming related costumes, that’s not settled yet. Feel free to write comments about wether you like this idea or not. I am always happy about some feedback on my SP-Studio updates, because I want to know what YOU want :).
- suspenders (dassenasse’s wish)
- dog tag (siky25’s wish)
- scythe (LEVIVRIENZz’s wish)
- black eye (CEdward92’s wish)
- kilt / plaid skirt (Jetpack-guy’s wish)
- slicked back hair (Joker’s wish for winning the last SP-Studio contest)
The final “Hollywood Weeks” update is online! I drew 17 new items, inspired by 9 famous movies:
The big Lebowski: Walter’s clothes
Bruce Lee / Kill Bill: shirt and pants
Cleopatra: makeup, dress and haircut
Frankenstein: screws and haircut
The Mask: hat with optional feather
Star Trek: shirt symbol and hands
Star Wars: hood
Stephen King’s It: clown costume
Titanic: Rose’s dress and necklace
…and an Oscar to hold in your hand and pretend to be a famous superstar :)
Many of those items have mutiple colors and I hope they are useful for you. I picked things which can be used in many ways (that’s why there is no Darth Vader mask, it would be boring ;)). Most of them are based on your wishes.
So that’s it – the SP-Studio Hollywood Weeks are over! 50 new items. Now I will take a little break. But if you still need more movie stuff join the SP-Studio community. Voting for the current contest “Sci-Fi movies” starts tonight.
And of course I am looking forward to your feedback. Did you like the movie related updates?
Disney’s animated movies are special, especially the old classics. So I decided to focus this movie related update on some of their famous characters. I picked Belle, Merlin, Tinkerbell, Ariel and Pocahontas, because parts of them could be intersting additions to the SP-Studio. This time it’s not only clothes – there are even tattoos, jewelry, beards and fairy wings, 13 new items!. You can see all of them in the picture below and they are marked with a star in the SP-Studio.
Those characters are from the Disney movies The Little Mermaid, Pocahontas, Peter Pan, The Sword in the Stone and The Beauty and the Beast. My reference pictures. Copyrights for them belong to Disney, I just do fan art.
I hope you like the new items! And remember there will be even more soon, my Hollywood Weeks are not over yet :). So you can still make suggestions on movie related updates.
Time for a little update: Two new items were included today! Caribou, winner of the “What happened in 2010?” contest, requested the helmet. SoxKid, winner of the “Pokemon” contest, the haircut.
And finally two new languages were added for the instructions too: Russian and Spanish. I cannot offer a complete translation of the whole SP-Studio, but I hope this helps some of my visitors. Thanks a lot to my anonymous translators!
Work on the next bigger update is nearly finished… :)
As promised I drew some hair for you… and I got a bit over the top. I planned to draw about 30, but now there are 40 new hair-styles. I hope you like them! I listened to your requests and so there are some emo, scene girl, anime and even Simpsons hair-styles.
And there is another surprise! I got many questions about adding highlights to the hair, so I included this now. You can use the “customizable highlights” category to add them to the existing hair styles. You can move and flip them or combine different highlights to create your individual style.
Including this was very complicated, so there is only one page of highlights right now to test if you like it. And of course they do not fit with every hair cut – it is up to you to be creative and combine them in a good looking way. But I tried it out and there are countless possibilities for interesting new hair styles now. So enjoy it! :) I did not forget about the beards, but I needed so much time to draw the hair-styles, that I will add the beards later (around February 24th).
As promised there will be more SP-Studio updates. This month I drew a lot of hair, because I didn’t add any new hair styles for the Christmas Special. Now you can find 27 new ones in the SP-Studio, of course in 60 different colors. Some of them are based on my own ideas, some inspired by your wishes.
To keep everything well arranged I parted the hair category in two: short and long hair. There are more than 100 different hair styles now, so this should help you to find a fitting hair style sooner than before. The new additions are marked with a white star. I hope you like this hairy collection and everybody can find recreate his look now!
