Sorry for not writing earlier, but I have some problems right now which keep me from drawing updates. The Stick of Truth is one of them ;). But the real problem is my mouse which stopped working properly. I tried my old mouse instead, but it was broken as well and so I want to buy a new one first before I continue working on the SP-Studio. I am a little spoiled when it comes to my mouse, that's why it takes so long. But I will buy it this week.

UPDATE!

Image

A mixed update:

  • sword on the back
  • Fullmetal Alchemist uniform
  • red curtains as a new foreground
  • native American feathered headdress

The first two objects were wishes from contest winners. Right now I only have one winner-wish left on my list (colored eyes), did I miss anybody? There are still some of you who can tell me their wish :).

This was a long requested thing and a wish by a contest winner, so... From now on you can choose your own eye colors freely. This will help you to create an avatar that looks more like you - or colorful monsters :). And there is a completly new eye shape as well, which can also be colored: Manga eyes! Yes I know... I did not want to include them, and I still think they don't fit very well. But it's kind of funny. And I got some inspiration from the recent South Park anime sequences with Princess Kenny.

UPDATE!

I continue to include some basic items, before I go back to movie or game costumes. This time I chose hairstyles which I think are useful. Some are from the wish voting gallery, the huge curly hair was my own idea and Jareen's wish was included as well:

  • A nicely braided updo
  • Wild, curly hair inspired by Merida from Disney’s Brave
  • Single pieces of hair insipired by Gollum from The Lord of the Rings
  • A short haircut inspired by Matthew Bellamy from Muse (contest winner Jareen2′s wish)

I think I've still got a few I haven't claimed yet, from the Internet, Superheroes and Dead Celebrities contests. I'd definitely like one of them to be the ability to choose all 100 colours for the background if that's possible, please... I'll have a think about the others. :)

EDIT: This wish, where you could customise the colour of the eyelids on all 5 of the lidded eye shapes instead of them just being transparent, would be all kinds of awesome. =)

Awesome, thank you! :)

I know you're gonna hate me for this, but I think my last wish has got to be for a Fender Stratocaster... :sigh: If I could think of something that would be more fun for you to draw then I would, but these are three things that I've always thought would be really useful.

Yes, I have a wish from the Disney contest that I sent a PM to you about it a while back. It's a selfish wish that I feel would be quite intresting to draw and would compliment Caribou's Fender Stratocaster wish quite well.

Sorry, I will have a look through the PNS in case I missed anything else, but I hope not.

UPDATE!

http://www.sp-studio.de

Image

NEW BACKGROUND COLORS & PATTERNS

When I included Caribou's wish for more background colors I switched to the automatic color picker. Then I thought: Hey, now it would be really easy to make background patterns! So I included them as well. If you want more patterns just tell me what you would like to see, I can even add a third color that is slightly ligher. But different colors in one pattern are complicated (maybe later).

And I tried to sort the hairstyles a little bit.

This must be a problem with the browser cache, because I used the same file names as for the old backgrounds. I should have used new names I guess :(. But you can solve this problem by deleting the browser cache or waiting a couple of days.
I will see if I can change the file names tomorrow, but I am not sure if I find the time.

A mixed update with 2 contest wishes and one idea by a fan that I really liked (the hat). You don't see the whole flame of the flamethrower, but I included it anyway because it might be useful for your pictures when you move it.

  • propeller hat
  • flamethrower
  • Jimi Hendrix military jacket

Beautiful work, Janina.

Edit: The front page still is featuring the Snow White update. Does it need an updated link? I can't wait to use that Jimi Hendrix coat.

UPDATE!

http://www.sp-studio.de

Image

This is a mixed update with 5 new items. They were inspired by fan art (this one) I drew for Rocketbeans’ “T.E.A.R.S.” show. Rocketbeans TV is a German Twitch channel and T.E.A.R.S. is their pen & paper rpg. After I finished the picture I thought: “Hey, some of those items might be useful for the SP-Studio!”. So here they are:

  • 3 new hairstyles
  • a new beard
  • a sheep

And there is something else... I think you will like it :). This was a wish by contest winner Jetpack-guy, but also something I had on my list for a looong time. The order of some layers has changed. This is how it works now:

(bottom)
Shirts - Unique designs
Shirts - Freestyle collection lvl 1
Ties
Shirts - Freestyle collection lvl 2
Shirt motifs
Shirts - Freestyle collection lvl 3
(top)

There are two benefits you will notice: Ties can now be worn on top of a shirt, but under a vest and a jacket. And the shirts motifs will appear under a jacket, but you will still be able to wear a printed t-shirt on top of a longsleeve shirt. Unfortunately the shirt text was a little bit complicated, so I will leave it where it was for now (on top of everything).

Hope we can see more next month...
Besides, can you give me advise to make my contest entries a lot better next time?
And what about the feet? Can the shoes be placed on top of all you mentioned? Or is it for a future update?

Oh, I forgot about the sitting feet... But I will make sure to fix this with the next update.

Regarding your contest pictures: I liked the DeviantArt's Fella a lot and think it is your best picture so far. So you are on a good way! :) Compared to your older entries you used the parts in a more creative way, and this is what usually leads to higher ratings. Keep your clean style, but try to include more details. You might not have made it to the Top 5 the last time, but I think you can make it if you continue this way.

UPDATE!

http://www.sp-studio.de

Image

Today's update is all about music! I drew seven new items.

  • headphones (custom color)
  • headphones around the neck (custom color)
  • Explorer guitar (costum color, contest wish by sexyshane)
  • grand piano (contest wish by Eggyslav)
  • recorder
  • small harp
  • big harp

The simple old headphones / acoustic earmuffs (I can't remember what they were supposed to be in the first place ;)) got a costum color upgrade as well. And I fixed two small errors with the dresses and the Frankenstein bolts.

UPDATE!

http://www.sp-studio.de

Image

From now on you can choose from 200 different colors when you create your SP-Studio characters. I am sure this will help you to be even more creative! :) Hair, shirts, skin, backgrounds… every item which uses the palette benefits from this update. The colors are better sorted now so you can find a fitting color combination easier than before. I chose the different shades for every color myself instead of using an automatic script to do this to make sure everything looks like I want it to look.

As a bonus more eye make-up, horns and wings from the “make-up and extra body parts” category have turned into custom color items. And I made little improvements to many hair styles because looking at old drawings can feel pretty awkward. I changed black lines to dark lines (depending on the selected color) and fixed small "holes" between hair and body.

I am looking forward to seeing your colorful SP-Studio pictures!

I am glad most people seem to like it, because it's a pretty big change and changes are not always easy to handle. And it actually was a very useful update for myself as well, because when working on the palette I learned some VERY useful things about ActionScript coding! :) For example I felt like a king when I finally (after so many years...) managed to get variables working. This makes it easier for me to include new "custom color items" and it opens the door for some exciting updates in the future. The upcoming updates will include some new features for the SP-Studio which will be very helpful for those who enjoy working on detailed pictures :).

A "stuff" update with some wishes and some random items:

  • a pocket watch

My wepaons always look a little bit strange... but the rest is okay I hope :).
