Really? I think you might be the first person I've ever heard say that they're anything other than a huge pain in the ass.

Personally, whenever an ad break starts, the volume goes straight off.

I studied this and worked in a advertising agency... so I am actually interested in this subject :). I prefer what I am doing now because making commercials is very stressful and basicaly you try to manipulate people all the time. That's why I did not feel comfortable with it. But there ARE really good ads out there! You can be really creative if you have the right company to work with.

Those are some of my all time favorites:

Coca Cola "For Everyone" - Minimalstic, but with style.

Spike Jonze's Ikea commercial - Really touching.

Honda - Filmed without computer effects.

NIKE Tag - My favorite Nike ad.

Discovery Channel - Love the song.

Mercedes - Sound of Summer - Just sound...

...... - Creepy ;)

The Drama Button - Viral marketing at its best.

I have real good regrets for this one... 1996... the soundtrack by The Kinks... and 1/6 scale action figures...

...especially for the final face of the sissy Ken.

@Janina: Great selection. The Coca Cola's 'For everyone', in the Spanish version (I believe it was the original one) had also added an Argentine accent that made it even better.
