I listen to Beethoven's 5th and 9th and Tchaikovsky's 1812 overture daily, although I only voted for Rock and Roll since I thought it was a one-option vote.

Yes. The cannons are amazing. Gives hope to me that I can use Medieval weapons as an orchestral instrument if the guitar doesn't work out too well for me.
The 9th is definitely Beethoven's best. And yes, it is pretty amazing considering his deteriorating hearing. Can't get enough of that 2nd movement brah.

ska i knew people still made, but I thought jazz and soul was in the 1920's, and folk was 1800's. But then again, im half retarted

Some of those are still around today. And there are plenty of newer ska-punk bands like Capdown, Leftover Crack and Sonic Boom Six who are doing pretty well at the moment too. Even The Specials are still touring; people love ska. It's good-time dancey music, that sort of thing never goes out of style.

You should also listen to KT Tunstall's first album from 2004, she has a lot of folk influence in her singing and guitar playing. I consider her new EP "The Scarlet Tulip EP" to be absolutely classed as Folk music, and probably my favourite of the genre at that. Seriously, check some of it out: My personal favourite song of the EP.

Meh, not much of a fan of Phil Collins Post-Genesis. I do love his more Motown-influenced work no matter how embarrassingly white it is though.

Ah, Tchaikovsky's 1812..... Magnificent piece of music.... Ever heard it with cannons? And don't tell me you've got the full version of 9nth symphony! It's the longest music piece ever written, and in my opinion Beethoven's best pece.... He completed it at the end of his life, when he was completely deaf.... Now that's impressive, isn't it? I've got a full Finale on my MP3 player...

Soul didn't even begin until the 1960s. Jazz began around the 20s, yeah, but Amy Winehouse was an example of a hugely famous modern artist who worked almost exclusively in both those genres.

Yeah Bob Dylan was part of the "folk" genre before he converted to electric guitars and stuff.
If you look at some of his older songs, it's just his voice and the acoustic guitar!
Back in the 90's, there were ska bands like was Sublime, Reel Big Fish, NoFX(part ska and part punk), Goldfinger, The Mighty Bosstones, etc.
