I am not sure if this counts...
Frankenstein is a novel from 1818 and the story was made up by one person (Mary Shelley) as far as I know. I don't think there was a legend or fairytale behind it, like it was the case with Dracula.
But I don't want to be too strict here. What do the others think? Can we keep this picture?

Yeah, it's not really a fairytale, it's a novel. Thing is, Dracula was a novel too, and even though Vampire legends are thousands of years old the character of Dracula himself was invented by Bram Stoker for his book. I think if we're disqualifying this we have to disqualify Dracula too. Frankenstein is essentially a new twist on old zombie/undead legends, after all.

@ Caribou: More like a twist on Jewish Legend of Golem. But, yeah, it rather can stay.

Freude, schöner Götterfunken,
Tochter aus Elysium!
Wir betreten feuertrunken,
Himmlische dein Heiligtum!
Deine zauber binden wieder
Was die Mode streng geteilt;
Alle Menschen werden Brüder,
Wo dein saftner Flügel weilt!
